The routine exam takes about 20 or 30 minutes. If you have complications or multiple problems, it might take longer, or sometimes the exam is "bridged" over 2 or 3 shorter appointments.

If you wear contact lenses, be sure to bring them with you (or the Rx, wrappers, etc) so we are certain of what you have been wearing. But also bring your glasses, as you might not want to wear your contacts after drops are used.

Regarding drops, we routinely use them to help us check your eye pressures or your corneal thickness, and we may want to dilate your eyes. Of course they are YOUR eyes, so you always have the option of declining any part of an exam.

If you are a contact lens wearer and you are coming in to update your eyeglasses prescription, please leave your contacts off on the day of the exam for the greatest accuracy of the refraction.
